St. Petersburg Collegiate High School North (SPCHS-N) made history this year with a 100% Associate of Arts graduation rate at the end of spring of this year.
At the end of the spring semester, all 67 seniors and an additional two juniors earned their high school diploma and Associate of Arts degree. This is the first time this accomplishment has been achieved in the school’s five-year history. In fact, all 69 graduated with an Honors designation, and 51 of 69 students graduated Summa Cum Laude with a weighted GPA over 4.0. Other statistics include:
- 98.17% college success rate for fall term and spring term
- Nine students graduated Magna Cum Laude with a weighted
GPA of 3.8 or higher - Over 8,500 Bright Future Volunteer Hours from seniors
- Over $500K in Scholarship money for our graduates
Recent graduate Alexandra Hooker looks forward to her future as she starts at the University of South Florida. She is majoring in communications, and looks back at her time at SPCHS-N fondly.
“I was at Tarpon Middle, and my principal at the time was leaving and my mom reached out to find out why, and she told her about this program and how it was a great opportunity,” Alexandra explained.
Her mom and her kept that advice in the back of their minds for the next few years and understood the hesitancy around the school because of the “high school experience.” However, they decided it was best for Alexandra and the rest was history.
“You can come here for a smaller school experience which gives you a better chance to find your pool of people. Everyone here is working toward the exact same goal as you and the support system is really strong,” she explained. “The administrators have your back no matter what, and you get a lot of controlled freedom which is different from a regular high school. You also get a head start on knowing how college works.”
The Class of 2024’s historic achievement is a testament to our students’ commitment to academic excellence and the efforts of our incredible staff. Their dedication and accomplishments leave a lasting legacy and example for future students as they will always be known as the first graduating class to achieve a 100% AA graduation rate.
Edward Elnahal, a recent graduate, is also looking forward to his future at the University of South Florida where he hopes to pursue a career in dentistry.

“I want to get into dental school,” he said excitedly. “SPCHS is like a family, and really brings everyone together. We all know each other and are familiar with the teachers. It is one big group rather than a high school. If a student comes here, they should get out of their comfort zone and be friends with everyone so it can really make the school feel like a second home.”
