For the second year in a row, SPC employees and students in the GLOW (Gay, Lesbian, Or Whatever) Club took part in the annual St. Pete PRIDE parade. The event, held June 28, celebrates the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community of Tampa Bay.
“This year the parade was held at night, and we glowed through the streets of St. Petersburg with a large float and many glow sticks!” said SPC Professor Sara Brzezinski. “We were bigger than ever and with more participants. Students from G.L.O.W., the Honors College and Job Corps came out to support SPC along with faculty and staff from both SPC and Job Corps. Those attending were excited to see St. Petersburg College participating in the events. They expressed pride when seeing their school or alumni present by stating with excitement, ‘That’s my school!’ Everyone involved did a wonderful job and had a very satisfying evening.”
Brzezinski estimated that more than 30 SPC faculty, staff, students and friends attended. Check out the Facebook gallery for more photos.
