As part of St. Petersburg College’s strategic internationalization initiative, the Center for International Programs hosted the annual Florida Consortium for International Education conference on the Seminole Campus.
FCIE has been the hub for both state community colleges and universities to promote international and intercultural education since 1977. The FCIE conference created a collaborative environment for sharing and learning about what other institutions are doing to promote the topic of globalization in higher education.
It has been a productive month for the Center for International Programs. Hosting the FCIE conference was only one of the internationalization initiatives undertaken. International Programs also reached out to a delegation from India, hosted a visitor from Greece, and achieved record numbers in attendance at Study Abroad Fairs on four campuses.
On September 23, International Programs hosted a delegation of seven educational professionals from India to hear about SPC’s best practices in areas such as Skills Development, eCampus programming, Nursing, and Veterinarian Technologies. The delegation toured several campuses, and met with SPC President Bill Law and the Strategic Issues Council.
International Programs also was happy to host a colleague from the American College of Thessaloniki, Greece. Tarek Kouatly visited the Tarpon Springs Campus, met with students, and also attended the FCIE conference to learn more about international education in Florida.
